We are excited to announce big news today!
First off, we would like to introduce Silk for Teams, our product for companies and organizations that want a private Silk site that every member of a team has access to.
Since we launched Silk, we saw a growing number of companies and organizations using a private Silk site to manage a knowledge base, as a group wiki, to track freelancers, to gather companies in a portfolio, and much more. We created Silk for Teams so these teams can get more out of Silk. Silk for Teams builds on what is already possible with a normal Silk site, and we will be adding more specific features along the way.
Silk for Teams sites are mostly private, which is why we couldn’t show much about the companies and organizations that are already using it before our official launch. We will be publishing a number of case studies to show you how these teams use Silk. Among these are Africa Interactive, which uses a Silk for Teams site to maintain their collection of freelancers working in the film industry; and NGO Human Rights Watch, which used Silk for Teams to combine hundreds of separate Word and Excel documents used to track human rights voting records at the United Nations.
If you are interested in learning more about Silk for Teams, check out the Silk for Teams page on our website.
Another big change is that we moved to silk.co: a new domain! That means that all Silk sites now end in silk.co instead of silkapp.com. We wanted the URLs of your Silk sites to be prettier and shorter, and we’re glad to have found silk.co so we could make this happen. We will redirect any visitors to your old address to the new one, so you won’t miss any traffic.
The last bit of big news is that we just closed an additional $1.6 million investment from New Enterprise Associates (NEA). We will use this investment to continue to work on Silk as a platform, and to create more products catered to specific ways people can use Silk.
We would like to thank everyone that uses Silk and sends us feedback, and look forward to keep improving Silk.
